WHAT CREATIVE PRAGMATIST’S WATCH
It may seem all over the board, until you realize it’s a mindset thing. Ok?
I asked you all to give me your favorite books/films/series of all times. Below are the films you submitted. Our audience here is broad and wildly diverse - from age, to country, to station in life. The thru line is abundantly clear and made visible here in the movie submits. As you can see, Creative Pragmatist’s thrive in the balance. Any pretension of a full on art film is tempered with the acknowledgement that Dazed and Confused or Waiting for Guffman is equally as enjoyable and even inspiring. Albeit in entirely different ways. The sophistication of an Ingrid Bergman love story, or Jean-Jacques Annaud’s The Lover hits in a way not unlike Crazy Stupid Love with Steve Carell and Julianne Moore. Just minus the velcroed wallet scene and Ryan Gosling’s demand for Carell to “be better than The Gap.” You’ll know what I mean when you watch.
It’s supposed to rain later today. I’m going to dive in to this list starting with Picnic at Hanging Rock. If you’re looking to add to a film que, and want opinions from those who are…..creative but not righteously so, deep thinkers who have an ability to laugh about themselves, clever not to be confused with silly, and touched but not sappy, then I think you’ll like this lineup. I’ve not seen over half of these, but quick google searches have me convinced I’ll not regret the $2.99 rental fee from your streamer of choice.
Enjoy.
