THE CREATIVE PRAGMATIST’S LIST OF READS
Submitted by a group of individuals that share a similar mindset. Ok?
I have some odd 200,000+ who follow me on instagram. It’s a wildly diverse bunch. As disparate as their countries, their ages, and their careers/lifestages may be, there’s a solid through line. Curious, questioning, and an impulse to kick at conventional wisdom - make sure that if we’re going to follow it that we’ve kicked the tires and made sure it’s still very relevant.
So when I ask people to recommend their favorite books, movies, series, I know that the answers will be varied, thoughtful, and have the weight of many experiences behind them.
So here I provide for you a list of the “favorites” submitted for reading. I’ve probably read about 20% of the books on this list. I’m sure I left some important ones off, there were so many submissions. The books you shared were just so good and thoughtful, I kept jumping over to google and searching each of the recommendations. That’s what I’ll anticipate you’ll do too. The aim here is to give you options - ones from people who think the same way as you, but don’t always think the same things. You’ll probably love most of the recs, but that is ultimately for you to decide for yourself. Happy investigating, reading. I hope you enjoy. And once again, may I say, I am in awe of the smarts coupled with creativity and passion that this group here possesses.
NOTE: These are in the order in which they received, I played no favorites. And I will be adding to this list, more were coming in fast and furious.
And anything by Amor Towles. All of his books are wonderful.
Anything by Christian Madsbjerg: it is excellent, mind-opening, and really about what makes us human. Especially interesting in the age of AI and algorithm.
His approach is inspired by phenomenology, and his methodology grounded in human sciences.
Fascinating for leaders, business owners, and creatives:
