My talking notes: CP Book Club Artists edition
An intimate talk this week with artists, gallerists, editors, hoteliers by career, super curious by nature. I have to write it out; I don’t want to ever waste someone’s time by blabbering. See below
I think what we all, or many of us have in common here tonight is that we haven’t gotten to where we are today following a straight path. And me being here, getting to speak wit all of you is proof of that. Over the last couple of years, what we’ve created at Tibi has evolved in to far more than a designer collection. I’ve found myself in situations like this, not describing the inspiration behind a season but talking about the philosophy behind my book The Creative Pragmatist. It’s not a book about simply how to identify your personal style and why that’s important; tho that is important; but rather it gives the reader creative and pragmatic tools that help one understand who they are and how that connects to what you show on the outside – your visuals. Not so that you become a better dresser, get more compliments. It’s so that you feel balanced. Clear to think and just be. And this comes about when you uncover and remove the tension you feel when you know what you want to say but can’t find the words.
