"Work-life balance" doesn't necessarily mean that you keep the two totally separate; it just means that you don't let the stress and responsibilities of work overwhelm your whole life.
Stella, this is so insightful and so well written! I swear I identify as Gen Z … even though, technically, I’m a Boomer by a few months. 😀 All of your salient points resonate, and I’m sharing this article with my Millennial sons. I’ve always admired their openness and willingness to consider different perspectives while maintaining their integrity and refining their points of view. My passions and convictions tend to bring out a bit of “convincing energy” in me that I’m working on shedding. I think a little slack in the rope might just produce the balance I’m craving. 💜
The last phrase, “when you feel a tug, hone in on what those forces are. But don’t drop the rope” struck me. It’s these time when you start to feel alive and could fly anywhere light as a feather. Thank you for the phrase.
You verbalized this push and pull very clearly. I will try to keep this concept top of mind and especially at thanksgiving when that rope stretch is tested! I like the connection to both dialogue and personal style.
