Amy, as far as risk-taking and frankly decision-making goes, some of the best advice I was given (albeit in the context of tech product management) is go as quickly as possible through two-way doors, and to be more more cautious with one-way doors. Basically if it's something you can quickly reverse course on then go for it as fast as possible. Anyway, helps me challenge myself to take more risks, especially for those that aren't really that risky in the grand scheme of things :)

Loved this message. Being in the business of creation, I've noticed pragmatism and logic get thrown to the wayside when the creator is not sitting firmly in their values. So easy to get swayed from the noise and opinion of others. You lose connection with that gut instinct and the grit it takes to make the unpopular (uncool) and pragmatic choices that keep the business afloat.

I’ve said to myself a few times, How is it that I’m not seeing Tibi mentioned in fashion press, national mainstream press that covers fashion, or in content generated by influencer blogs? I think it’s because what you’re doing is disarming in the way it skids across the structure of how the industry makes and markets. Its taxonomy bristles. Which is great. Nytimes, heads up! Nowhere else am I confronted with as crisp a viewpoint that integrates production, design, and marketing while educating its targeted audience as a whip smart, approachable stylist with principles shaped by tenets of art, graphic design and increasingly cultural criticism. You’re kinda like fashion’s Karl Krauss, but you’re not only critic; Tibi is maker and stylist, too. Influencers pushing the latest in sweaters or whatever from Mango, or those driven by a fear of sidestepping into gauche so they posture as discerning arbiters of a narrow taste… These are all leveled to noise when I read something like this. You’re great at cutting an amalgam of influence— minimalism, mid-century cinema, Modernism, others— with the guts of new observation. Influencers, ignore at your peril. NYTimes, knock, knock. Helloooo, wtf are you?

1st. Thank you for this, and I will admit, I just went and googled Karl Krauss. And this I love so much, literally conversing with people and learning something new every day. It’s incredible what we’ve been able to suck out of social media rather than just letting social media suck. 2nd. I needed this today - as I drink my morning copy and just had 20 terrifying minutes of second guessing everything we’ve been doing. It’s greatly appreciated.

I found Tibi in September. The way you approach dressing, business, and just life in general really struck a chord. As a small business owner in B2B marketing, it’s been so reassuring to see that I’m not alone. Just wanted to say thanks for that!!! (from Sweden a very conformist country)
